FAQs
Common Questions About Skydo Payouts
Do I need an Employer of Record to pay contractors in India?
No. An EOR employs people on your behalf, which is a different job from paying them. If your relationship is contractual, all you need is a terms of agreement contract between you and the contractor. Skydo then moves the money and generates the paperwork your contractor needs, without an entity or an EOR contract.
How do I pay contractors in India from the US?
You make one local ACH transfer from your existing US bank account and Skydo pays each contractor in rupees. You add your contractors once, create a payout batch with the amounts, and approve it. Funds reach each contractor's Indian bank account within one business day.
Can I pay my contractors a fixed INR amount?
Yes. With Skydo Payouts you can pay a fixed rupee amount, at a 0.6% fee on the transaction. Skydo bears the risk of any rate movement between the time you fund us and the time we settle, so the exact amount you agreed always lands in your contractor's bank account.
What does it cost to pay a contractor in India?
$10 per contractor per month, plus 0.5% on the exchange rate. Most banks and platforms charge 2 to 3% on the exchange rate on top of a wire fee, and that markup usually is not shown anywhere on your statement. On a $10,000 monthly run, a bank wire works out to roughly $345 once the exchange margin is counted. With Skydo it is $60. Use the calculator above to run your own numbers.
What paperwork does my contractor need when I pay them from the US?
Your contractor needs a Foreign Inward Remittance Advice (FIRA), the document confirming they received a foreign payment, which their accountant asks for at tax time. Skydo generates it automatically on every payout, so your contractor never has to ask you for it. You also get a payout-level record for your own books.
Do my contractors need to sign up for anything?
No. You invite your contractors by email and they add their bank details once. There is no account to create and no verification process to complete. After that, they just get paid.
How many businesses does Skydo work with?
Skydo is licensed by the Reserve Bank of India, has served over 50,000 businesses, and processes more than $1 billion in annualised payment volume.
