What should I do if my customer may have paid the same invoice twice?

Ask the customer for both final transfer receipts. Compare the bank references, amounts, dates and destination details. Two screenshots of one transfer are not necessarily two separate payments.

Tell Support that a duplicate may have occurred and provide both records with the invoice. Also ask the payer whether its bank shows two actual debits, a pending instruction plus a completed payment, or a duplicate display.

Do not issue another request for the same amount while this is being checked. Keep the records separate until the two transfers are identified. If a duplicate receipt is confirmed, ask Support for the next handling steps rather than promising a correction or sending money to a different account.

If both are real transfers, ask Support which has reached your Indian bank and whether a return route is available. Do not promise an automatic refund or send money to new account details by message.

Two notifications can describe stages of one transfer. Compare payment and bank references before treating them as a duplicate.
