Does PayPal accept UPI

Yes, PayPal accepts UPI, but only for international checkouts through its PayPal World platform, not for domestic payments inside India.

  • International checkout: Shoppers can choose UPI as the payment method when paying on foreign websites that accept PayPal.
  • Domestic payments: PayPal does not support UPI for local payments made within India.
  • Xoom remittances: Xoom, PayPal's international money transfer service, lets senders abroad, including NRIs and PIOs, send money directly to a recipient's UPI ID in India in real time.

Any PayPal overview for Indian users should separate these two uses: UPI works as a way to pay foreign merchants that accept PayPal and as a delivery route for Xoom transfers into India, while ordinary domestic PayPal payments do not run on UPI.
