Does PayPal work in India

PayPal works in India only for international transactions, allowing users to receive payments from overseas clients and make purchases on international websites.

PayPal does not support domestic transfers between Indian users, and you cannot hold a digital wallet balance in India. To receive international payments, you generally need a verified Business account with your PAN card linked. When you get paid from abroad, PayPal automatically converts the foreign currency to Indian rupees and transfers the amount to your local bank account within 24 to 72 hours, following RBI regulations.

  • Receiving payments: You can accept funds from international clients, but not from other Indian PayPal users.
  • Sending payments: You can pay for goods and services on international websites, but not send money domestically.
  • Account requirements: A verified Business account and PAN card are typically needed to receive payments.
