Does Wise support UPI

Yes, Wise supports UPI for certain Indian Rupee (INR) transactions, such as sending money to a UPI ID or paying for a transfer, but it is not an everyday UPI payment app.

Wise uses UPI in these ways:

• Sending to a UPI ID: From supported countries, you can send money to a UPI ID in India without knowing the recipient's full bank details. Wise's official page states that up to 200,000 INR can be sent this way to a private individual.
• Paying for a transfer or topping up: When making an INR transfer, you can select UPI as the payment method and scan the QR code with a supported UPI app such as Google Pay or PhonePe. Limits apply, for example 1 lakh INR.

Wise does not offer these UPI features:

• Merchant QR payments: The Wise app cannot be used like a regular UPI app to scan shop QR codes or pay for retail purchases in India in real time.
• Card linking: A Wise debit card cannot be added to a local UPI app for in-store payments.
