How many currencies does PayPal support

PayPal supports 25 major currencies for sending, receiving and holding funds, according to its published list of supported currencies.

A PayPal overview of these currencies shows that some of the commonly used ones are:

• US Dollar: Listed under the code USD.
• Euro: Listed under the code EUR.
• Pound Sterling: Listed under the code GBP.
• Canadian Dollar: Listed under the code CAD.
• Australian Dollar: Listed under the code AUD.
• Japanese Yen: Listed under the code JPY.

Support is not identical for every currency on the list:

• In-country only currencies: The Brazilian Real (BRL), Chinese Renminbi (CNY) and Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) can be used only by accounts registered in those countries.
• Codes and behaviour: PayPal's developer reference lists each currency by its ISO 4217 code with notes on any restrictions, and what the REST API supports can also depend on the payment type and merchant country.
• Local conversion: In some countries, such as India, incoming payments in foreign currencies may be converted automatically into the local currency for withdrawal.

Before accepting or sending a particular currency, confirm on PayPal's supported currencies page that it is available for an account in your country.
