Stripe charges 2.9% + $0.30 per successful online card transaction for standard US accounts, with no setup or monthly fees. Your total cost depends on the payment method, customer location and extra tools you use.

For US accounts, Stripe pricing works on a pay-as-you-go basis, and the base rate changes with the way a customer pays:

Online cards and wallets: 2.9% + $0.30 for Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Apple Pay, which comes to $3.20 on a $100 sale.
In-person payments: 2.7% + $0.05 through Stripe Terminal card readers, or $2.75 on a $100 sale.
Manually keyed cards: 3.4% + $0.30 for card details typed in, such as phone orders.
ACH Direct Debit: 0.8% per bank-to-bank debit, capped at $5.
ACH credit and wire transfers: A flat $1.00 for ACH credit and a flat $8.00 for wires.
Buy now, pay later: 5.99% + $0.30 for options such as Klarna and Affirm.

Several add-on charges can raise the effective rate for a US Stripe account above the base 2.9%:

International cards: An extra 1.5% when the customer's card was issued outside the US.
Currency conversion: An extra 1% when a foreign currency has to be converted into USD.
Stripe Billing: An extra 0.7% of volume for managing recurring subscriptions.
Stripe Tax: An extra 0.5% per transaction to calculate and collect sales tax or VAT.
Disputes: $15 for each chargeback, returned only if you win the dispute.

Stripe's base card fee also varies with the country where the business account is registered:

European Economic Area: 1.5% + €0.25 for standard local cards.
United Kingdom: 2.5% + €0.25, or the local currency equivalent.
India: 2% for domestic transactions, and up to 4.3% plus 2% currency conversion for international cards.
