How much is PayPal rate now
PayPal has no single rate now; its fees depend on the transaction type, the payment method and the country your account is in.
The main published PayPal pricing falls into three groups: US business payments, international business payments received by sellers such as freelancers in India, and personal transfers.
- US PayPal Checkout and buttons: Business payments collected through PayPal Checkout or the PayPal buttons cost 3.49% plus $0.49 per transaction.
- US standard card payments: Debit and credit card payments cost 2.99% plus $0.49 per transaction.
- US in-person QR code payments: QR code transactions over $10.00 cost 2.29% plus $0.09.
- International surcharge for US sellers: An extra 1.50% is added to the base rate when the buyer is outside the US.
Accounts outside the US that receive business payments from abroad, such as exporters and freelancers in India, face a different structure.
- Cross-border transaction fee: PayPal charges 4.4% of the amount received plus a fixed fee, for example $0.30 for USD payments.
- Currency conversion spread: When PayPal converts a payment into another currency, such as USD to INR, it applies a spread of about 3% to 4% above the mid-market exchange rate, on top of the transaction fee.
Personal transfers to friends and family are priced separately.
- Domestic personal transfers in the US: Sending money is free when funded from a PayPal balance or bank account, while card funding costs 2.90% plus a fixed fee.
- International personal transfers from the US: The fee is 5% of the amount sent, with a minimum of $0.99 and a maximum of $4.99.
