How to get IEC code

To obtain an Import Export Code (IEC), apply online through the Directorate General of Foreign Trade portal, paying a ₹500 government fee.

  • Documents Needed: PAN card, identity proof (Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Passport), business address proof (utility bill or rent agreement), bank account details (cancelled cheque or bank certificate), and a digital photograph.
  • Application Steps: Register on the portal as an Importer/Exporter using your PAN, email, and mobile number. Log in, select IEC Profile Management under Services, and click Apply for IEC. Fill the form with your business details, upload scanned copies of your documents, pay the fee, sign using an Aadhaar-based OTP or Digital Signature Certificate, and submit.

Approval typically takes 1 to 3 working days, after which your e-IEC certificate will be emailed and available for download on the portal.
