How to open PayPal acc
To open a PayPal account, choose Sign Up on the PayPal website or app, pick a Personal or Business account, verify your phone, set a password and enter your details.
- Personal account: Suited to shopping online, sending money to family and friends, or splitting bills.
- Business account: Meant for freelancers, merchants and companies that take payments from customers.
The sign up steps are similar for both account types. A general PayPal overview covers what each account can do, while the process itself runs as follows.
- Start sign up: Visit the PayPal website or open the PayPal mobile app and select Sign Up.
- Pick the account type: Choose Personal or Business, then select Get Started.
- Add contact details: Enter an email address you use and your mobile number.
- Verify your phone: Type in the one-time code PayPal sends to you by SMS.
- Create a password: Use a mix of letters, numbers and symbols.
- Give personal information: Enter your legal name, date of birth and home address exactly as they appear on your government-issued ID.
- Accept the terms: Agree to the user agreement and privacy statement, then select Agree and Create Account.
Once the account exists, you can connect a debit card, credit card or bank account so you can send and receive money. This step can be skipped during sign up and done later from your dashboard.
PayPal also emails a confirmation link after sign up. Clicking it verifies your email address and removes the limits placed on new accounts.
