How to pay using PayPal

To pay using PayPal, log in to PayPal on the website or mobile app, then either send money to a person or choose PayPal at an online checkout.

As a short PayPal overview, a payment can be made in two main ways: sending money directly to someone, or paying a merchant through the PayPal button at checkout. You do not need a balance in your PayPal account to pay, since a linked bank account, credit card or debit card can fund the payment.

To send money to a person with PayPal, follow these steps.

1. Log in: Open the PayPal app or website and go to Send and Request.
2. Enter the recipient: Add the person's name, username, email address or phone number, then select Next.
3. Add the amount: Type the amount you want to send and pick the currency.
4. Choose the payment type: Where the option is offered, mark the PayPal payment as Goods and Services or Friends and Family.
5. Pick a funding method: Select a linked bank account, credit card, debit card or your PayPal balance.
6. Review and send: Check the payment details, then select Send Payment Now.
