How to send payment in PayPal
To send a payment in PayPal, sign in on the PayPal website or app, tap Send, add the recipient and amount, choose a payment type and funding source, then confirm.
The process works like this:
- Sign in: Open the PayPal mobile app or visit the PayPal website and log in.
- Add the recipient: Tap Send and enter the recipient's name, username, email address or mobile number.
- Enter the amount: Type the payment value and select the currency you want to use.
- Select the payment type: Choose Friends and Family or Goods and Services.
- Review and send: Pick your funding source, check everything and tap Send.
PayPal offers two payment types when you send money:
- Goods and Services: Used when paying for a purchase, and the payment comes with buyer protection.
- Friends and Family: Used for personal transfers such as gifts, and the payment has no buyer protection.
Menu labels vary by country. In the PayPal app in Canada, for example, you can reach the payment screen by choosing Payments and then Pay.
