Where is PayPal used

PayPal is used in more than 200 countries and regions worldwide, though the services it offers differ by country and it is not available everywhere.

How much of PayPal you can use depends on local financial laws and regulations in your country. Broadly, countries fall into three groups:

• Full access: In most supported markets, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia and most of Europe, users can send and receive money, pay online and in stores, keep a digital balance and link local bank accounts and cards.
• Restricted access: In some countries, local rules limit what PayPal can offer, so only part of its services are available.
• No access: PayPal is banned or not supported in a small number of countries because of international sanctions or local laws, with Iran, North Korea, Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan named as examples.

India is one of the restricted markets. PayPal in India does not offer domestic transfers or peer-to-peer payments between Indian users. It is used mainly by businesses and freelancers to receive payments from abroad, and by shoppers paying on international merchant websites with a linked card.
