Where is Wise available

Wise is available in over 160 countries for sending and receiving money, covering more than 40 currencies, though some features depend on where you live.

A useful Wise overview of availability separates signing up and sending money, which works almost everywhere, from features such as the card and held balances, which vary by country because of local banking rules.

• Supported regions: You can register and use the service from most countries across North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America and Oceania.
• Restricted countries: Because of international sanctions or local laws, the service is not offered in a small number of places, including Afghanistan, Belarus, Burundi, the Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cuba, Eritrea and Iran.

Availability also changes feature by feature:

• Money transfers: Transfers are available globally to and from over 40 currencies.
• Wise card: Personal customers can get the card if they live in Australia, Brazil, Canada, the European Economic Area, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK or the US, with Nevada excluded.
• Holding balances: Some countries limit the type of account on offer. In India, RBI rules mean you cannot hold long-term balances, and in Hong Kong personal accounts for holding money are restricted.
