Which country use PayPal
PayPal is used in more than 200 countries and regions worldwide, but the features available to users differ from one country to another.
Being able to open a PayPal account in a country does not mean every service works there. PayPal's own country directory lists the supported markets, and its developer documentation sets out which feature set each country gets. A PayPal overview by country usually falls into the groups below.
- Full service: Major markets such as the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Spain and Japan support sending, receiving and withdrawing money.
- Receive and withdraw: In countries such as India and Mexico, users can accept international payments and move them to a local bank account, but local person-to-person transfers within the country are not available.
- Send only or restricted: Some regions let users pay for purchases with PayPal, while receiving payments or withdrawing to a local bank is switched off because of local banking rules.
PayPal does not operate at all in several countries that face heavy sanctions or restrictions. These include:
- Afghanistan: PayPal services are unavailable.
- Iran: PayPal services are unavailable.
- North Korea: PayPal services are unavailable.
- Syria: PayPal services are unavailable.
- Pakistan: PayPal services are unavailable.
- Sudan: PayPal services are unavailable.
Before relying on PayPal in a particular country, check that country's entry in PayPal's global directory of countries and currencies, since support for sending, receiving and bank withdrawals is set market by market.
