Best Online Payment Platforms for Indian Businesses in 2026

The best online payment platforms for Indian businesses in 2026 are Skydo, Cashfree, Razorpay, Wise and PayPal for getting paid from abroad, and Razorpay, Cashfree, Easebuzz, PayU and PhonePe for collecting from Indian customers.
Skydo ranks first internationally for its flat fees on payments up to $10,000 and zero FX markup. Above $10,000, it charges 0.3%. Razorpay ranks first domestically in our comparison for coverage and developer tooling, with Cashfree close behind on price.
The two lists are different because the two jobs are different. An international card payment includes gateway fees and may include currency-conversion charges. A bank transfer against an invoice uses a different pricing model. A domestic gateway is built for an Indian customer clicking Pay at your checkout.
Most businesses with both kinds of revenue end up running one platform from each list.
Domestic or International: Which Problem Are You Solving?
Before comparing rates, work out which of three jobs you actually need done. Each has a different cost structure, and paying for the wrong one is the most expensive mistake here.
| International invoice | International checkout | Domestic checkout | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How you get paid | Overseas client sends a bank transfer against an invoice | Overseas customer pays by card at your checkout | Indian customer pays by UPI, card or netbanking |
| What you need | A cross-border collection account | An international payment gateway | A domestic payment gateway |
| Typical cost | A flat fee, or around 1% | 3% to 8% all in | Around 2% + GST at standard rates; UPI gateway fees depend on the provider |
| Settlement | Depends on provider and payment rail | T+2 to T+7 | T+1 to T+3 |
| Paperwork | Remittance advice; export documents as applicable | Often a period summary | GST invoice |
The first column is where businesses can lose money without noticing. A card gateway prices in acquiring costs, fraud cover and chargeback handling. Those features matter at a checkout, but a client paying an invoice by bank transfer may not need them.
So the question is not which platform is best. It is which of these three columns your revenue arrives through, and most growing businesses have revenue in more than one.
The 5 Best Platforms for International Payments
These bring money from overseas customers into your Indian account. Two are collection accounts for invoiced revenue, and three handle cards.
| # | Platform | Type | Cost | FX markup | Settlement | FIRA |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Skydo | Collection account | $19 up to $2,000, $29 to $10,000, 0.3% above | Zero | Bank transfers: typically within 24 hours | Free, instant, every payment |
| 2 | Cashfree | Cards and collections | 2.99% on international cards | Not separately disclosed | T+2 | FIRS per payment; collections eFIRS on request |
| 3 | Razorpay | Cards and MoneySaver | 3% cards, 1% on bank transfers | Zero on bank transfers | Bank transfers: T+1; FlashLinks: 5 days; cards: T+7 working days | Digital FIRS within 24 hours of settlement |
| 4 | Wise | Collection account | Currency-dependent conversion fee; check the live quote | Zero, mid-market rate | Usually 1–2 days after receipt; incoming transfers can take longer | Automatic e-FIRC per transfer |
| 5 | PayPal | Cards and wallet | 4.4% + fixed fee ($0.30 for USD) | 3% above PayPal’s base exchange rate | Automatic daily withdrawal; allow up to 5 business days | Weekly, not per payment |
Also worth knowing: CCAvenue for payment processing in 27 foreign currencies, Stripe for subscription billing if you can get an India invite, with fees varying by card and presentment currency, and Payoneer for supported marketplace payouts. Each suits a narrower case than the five above.
How to read this table
- Start with how your customer pays. A card at checkout means a gateway, and a bank transfer against an invoice means a collection account.
- Then check the FX markup, not just the fee. PayPal adds a 3% conversion charge above its base exchange rate on top of its receiving fee.
- Then look at the fee model. Skydo charges a flat fee up to $10,000 per payment and 0.3% above that, so compare the fee at your usual invoice size.
- Then check the paperwork. Per-payment remittance advice makes reconciliation easier, but check that the bank documents meet your export and GST-refund requirements.
The 5 Best Platforms for Domestic Payments
These collect from Indian customers through UPI, cards and netbanking, and settle to your Indian bank account.
| # | Platform | Rate | UPI | Settlement | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Razorpay | ~2% + 18% GST | Zero MDR on bank-account UPI; gateway fees may apply | T+2 | The default, with the widest coverage and best developer tools |
| 2 | Cashfree | 1.95% + GST standard; limited 0% platform-fee offer for eligible new merchants | Zero MDR on bank-account UPI; gateway fees may apply | T+1 or T+2; faster options available | A lower published standard rate, plus strong payouts |
| 3 | Easebuzz | Custom quote | Zero MDR on bank-account UPI; gateway fees may apply | T+1 | EMI, split settlements and sector-specific flows |
| 4 | PayU | ~2% + GST, 3% on AmEx, Diners and EMI | Zero MDR on bank-account UPI; gateway fees may apply | T+2 | 150+ payment methods at enterprise volume |
| 5 | PhonePe PG | 1.99% standard; limited zero-fee offer; custom enterprise pricing | Zero MDR on bank-account UPI; gateway fees may apply | T+1; subject to agreed cycle | UPI-dominant, mobile-first checkouts |
Rates exclude 18% GST unless stated, so a "2%" platform is about 2.36% landed. Checked November 2026.
How to read this table
- Start with your UPI pricing. Zero MDR on bank-account UPI does not mean a free gateway: Razorpay and Cashfree publish separate platform charges. Check your agreed UPI fee before calculating a blended rate.
- Then look at settlement. Instant and T+1 options matter more than a 0.25% rate gap when working capital is tight.
- Then check what you actually need. Split settlements, EMI and sub-merchant flows are standard on some platforms and priced add-ons on others.
- Then ask about reserves. Rolling reserves on card volume rarely appear in a pricing table and directly affect your cash.
What Each Route Costs: A Worked Example
What this tells you
A Pune company bills $10,000 a month to two US clients who pay by invoice, and ₹20 lakh a month to Indian customers through its website. The examples below exclude GST and any additional route-specific charges. Assumed rates are illustrative, not merchant quotes.
On the $10,000 of invoiced US revenue
| Platform | Cost per month | Cost per year |
|---|---|---|
| Skydo, two invoices of $5,000 | $58 | $696 |
| Razorpay MoneySaver at 1% | $100 | $1,200 |
| Wise, currency-dependent fee | Depends on the transfer quote | Depends on the transfer quote |
| A card gateway, assumed 3.5% before GST | ~$350 | ~$4,200 |
| PayPal, illustrative 7.5% before GST | ~$750 | ~$9,000 |
On the ₹20 lakh of domestic revenue
| Platform | Rate | Monthly cost before GST |
|---|---|---|
| Easebuzz, if quoted 1.5% | 1.5% | ₹30,000 |
| Cashfree at its standard 1.95% | 1.95% | ₹39,000 |
| Razorpay at 2% | 2% | ₹40,000 |
A higher UPI share lowers these costs only if your agreed UPI gateway fee is lower than your card fee.
What this tells you
On the international side, the same $120,000 a year costs $696 through Skydo before GST and about $9,000 through PayPal at the illustrative rate used here. The actual difference depends on invoice size, payment route, conversion and taxes.
On the domestic side, a quoted 1.5% rate would save ₹10,000 a month against 2% on ₹20 lakh of sales. Your actual saving depends on your agreed rates, payment mix and offer eligibility.
This is why the two lists stay separate. Optimising your domestic rate while routing invoiced foreign revenue through a card platform saves rupees and loses lakhs.
How Do They Compare on Compliance, Onboarding and Support?
For export-service GST refunds, keep the required bank evidence of payment. Goods refunds rely on shipping and export-invoice records, with separate rules on realising export proceeds. Domestic payments are simpler: a GST invoice and a settlement to your bank.
| Platform | RBI status | Getting started | Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skydo | Final PA-CB, inward and outward | Online account in minutes, stricter checks on the first payment | Email, phone and a dedicated account manager |
| Cashfree | Payment aggregator, plus final PA-CB, the first holder in July 2024 | Merchant KYC, sales-led for international | Named account manager on the international product |
| Razorpay | Payment aggregator, plus final PA-CB | Online onboarding, live in days | Dashboard tickets; chat or callback for selected users; phone call within 2 hours on escalations |
| Wise | PA-CB for inward payments | Self-serve signup with business verification | Help Centre, then chat or phone from your account, 24/7 phone lines |
| PayPal | In-principle PA-CB approval for exports | The quickest signup here | Message Centre, phone or chatbot |
| Easebuzz | Full authorisation across online, offline and cross-border, November 2025 | Online onboarding | Toll-free phone and email support, with a grievance escalation path |
| PayU | Integrated authorisation across online, offline and cross-border | Heavier merchant onboarding | Tickets and email through PayU Assist, 24/7 chatbot, no standard merchant phone line |
| PhonePe PG | Final online payment aggregator authorisation | Online onboarding | Merchant support with a published grievance and nodal officer path |
When a client makes one payment against multiple invoices, or deducts bank charges before sending the money, the amount credited may not match any individual invoice. Keeping the remittance advice with the invoice references makes reconciliation easier and helps identify short payments before they become a problem during export documentation checks.
How to read this table
- Start with the document on foreign payments. Free FIRA on every payment helps reconciliation, but check the bank documents needed for your export and GST-refund requirements.
- Then expect a second approval for international. Most gateways underwrite cross-border acceptance separately, even after domestic approval.
- Then check the domestic side. If every customer is Indian, confirm domestic authorisation as well as rate and settlement.
- Then check how you reach a person. A named contact or phone line matters on the day a settlement is held.
The Platforms Reviewed in Detail
International platforms first, then the domestic ones. Cashfree and Razorpay appear in both lists, because they run separate products for each job.
1. Skydo
Best for: Businesses invoicing overseas clients. Type: Cross-border collection account
Pros:
- Fees you know before you invoice: $19 up to $2,000, $29 from $2,001 to $10,000, and 0.3% above that, plus applicable GST.
- No FX markup, with conversion at the live mid-market rate.
- A free FIRA on every payment, with purpose codes filed for you.
- Your client pays local account details in their own country instead of raising an international wire.
Cons:
- Its bank-transfer collection route is not a card checkout, so card-paying customers need a gateway alongside it.
- A flat fee is a high percentage on a very small invoice.
Choose it if: Overseas clients pay you by invoice rather than at a checkout.
2. Cashfree
Best for: International card acceptance, plus cost-sensitive domestic volume. Type: International cards and collections, plus a domestic gateway
Pros:
- 2.99% on international cards with 140+ currencies, the lowest standard card rate here.
- Its AD-1 partner bank issues Global Collections eFIRS on T+1 after the money reaches your Indian bank; request it through support or your account manager.
- Domestic standard pricing is 1.95% plus GST. Eligible new merchants can get 0% platform fees on their first ₹20 lakh through 31 March 2027, subject to offer terms; GST still applies on the standard fee. Standard settlements are T+1 or T+2, with faster options available.
Cons:
- The Global Collections FAQ lists a $10,000 invoice limit; confirm the limit for your collection product before routing larger invoices.
- Collections pricing is not published, so your rate depends on a sales conversation.
Choose it if: Overseas customers pay by card and you want one provider covering domestic too.
3. Razorpay
Best for: Businesses selling to Indian and overseas customers on one stack. Type: International cards and an export account, plus a domestic gateway
Pros:
- A MoneySaver Export Account at 1% with no FX markup, for clients paying by bank transfer.
- Nearly every Indian payment method within days of onboarding, including UPI, cards, netbanking and EMI.
- The best documentation and dashboard among the Indian gateways.
Cons:
- Standard international card settlement is T+7 working days, so budget for the wait.
- The 1% export rate keeps growing with the invoice; Skydo charges a flat fee up to $10,000 and 0.3% above that.
Choose it if: You want one vendor across domestic and international without adding a second login.
4. Wise
Best for: Businesses billing clients across many currencies. Type: Cross-border collection account
Pros:
- Receive payments in 24 currencies, including local account details for major currencies.
- The mid-market rate, with the fee shown separately rather than hidden in it.
- Self-serve signup, payment requests and automatic e-FIRC delivery.
Cons:
- The conversion fee varies by currency and payment route, so check the quote before comparing costs.
- Local and SWIFT payments have different fees and arrival times, so check the route your client will use.
Choose it if: You bill in several currencies and value reach over the lowest per-payment cost.
5. PayPal
Best for: Overseas customers who won't use anything else. Type: Cards and wallet
Pros:
- Buyers recognise it, which removes friction in markets where your brand is unknown.
- Works for both checkout and invoiced payments.
- The quickest signup here.
Cons:
- Fees add up: 4.4% plus a currency-based fixed fee, a 3% charge above PayPal’s base exchange rate when converting received payments, and applicable GST.
- Proof of receipt is issued weekly rather than per payment.
Choose it if: One customer insists on it. Route everyone else through a cheaper rail.
6. Easebuzz
Best for: EdTech, SaaS and marketplaces needing split flows. Type: Domestic gateway, now authorised for cross-border too
Pros:
- Custom pricing, with T+1 working-day settlement.
- Split settlements, sub-merchant flows and EMI plans out of the box.
- Full RBI authorisation across online, offline and cross-border since November 2025.
Cons:
- Cross-border is new here, so pricing is unpublished and the track record is short.
- A smaller ecosystem and fewer integrations than the top two.
Choose it if: You need installments or split payouts specifically, at a low rate.
7. PayU
Best for: Established businesses scaling domestic and international volume. Type: Domestic gateway, plus international cards
Pros:
- 150+ payment methods, so almost nothing a customer tries fails for lack of support.
- Mature fraud and risk tooling built for volume.
- Integrated authorisation across online, offline and cross-border.
Cons:
- Onboarding is heavier, and support runs through tickets rather than a phone line.
- AmEx, Diners and EMI are priced above the standard rate.
Choose it if: Volume justifies enterprise features and maximum method coverage.
8. PhonePe Payment Gateway
Best for: Mobile-first businesses where UPI dominates. Type: Domestic gateway
Pros:
- Excellent UPI reliability and success rates, from the app most customers already have.
- T+1 settlement, subject to bank holidays and your agreed cycle.
- Brand familiarity at checkout, which helps conversion.
Cons:
- The zero-fee offer is temporary, so confirm its terms and your rate after it ends.
- A newer gateway product, with some reporting and plugin features still maturing.
Choose it if: UPI is most of your revenue and you want the strongest rails for it.
How We Ranked These Platforms
We ranked the two lists separately on six factors, ordered by what a business feels on every transaction. Published rates and terms are used where available; illustrative examples and quote-dependent fees are identified.
How we ranked them
All-in cost leads, because it applies to every payment, and because the FX markup on foreign revenue is usually larger than the visible fee. Settlement speed comes next, since money in transit is working capital. Coverage, compliance, onboarding and support separate platforms that are already close on the first two.
The two lists are ranked against different jobs, so a platform can rank differently on each. Razorpay ranks first domestically and third internationally, because its card settlement is slow and its export account is priced as a percentage.
What we compared
All-in cost: the platform fee, any FX markup and 18% GST.
Settlement speed: how long money takes to reach your Indian bank.
Coverage: payment methods and UPI reliability domestically, currencies and local rails abroad.
Compliance: GST invoicing, and whether FIRA and purpose codes are automatic on foreign payments.
Onboarding: how fast you go live and how strict the first approval is.
Support: whether you reach a person or a ticket queue when a payment is held.
Where our information comes from
Platform websites: published rates, settlement terms and support routes were checked in November 2026. Where fees depend on a quote or an offer, the comparison says so. Worked examples identify assumed rates.
RBI status: authorisation and permitted activities were checked against the RBI’s payment-system operator register, updated on 30 October 2026, and its PA application-status list, updated on 1 November 2026.
Scope: This comparison covers Indian business accounts. Product access, fees and support can depend on your business and agreed plan.
Which Setup Is Right for Your Business?
| Your revenue | International | Domestic |
|---|---|---|
| Overseas clients paying invoices | Skydo | Razorpay or Cashfree for India |
| Overseas customers at a checkout | Cashfree for international cards | Razorpay for India |
| Clients across many currencies | Wise | Razorpay for India |
| A client who insists on PayPal | PayPal for that client only | Razorpay for India |
| Indian customers only | Not needed | Razorpay or Cashfree |
| Indian customers, UPI-heavy | Not needed | PhonePe or Razorpay |
| EdTech, lending or a marketplace | Add one if you bill abroad | Easebuzz or Cashfree |
If you are choosing one thing today
Start with where the next ₹10 lakh of revenue comes from. An invoice to a client abroad means a collection account, and that choice is worth several times more in saved fees than anything on the domestic side. Indian customers at a checkout means a domestic gateway, and the rate differences there are small enough that coverage and settlement should decide it.
What is an online payment platform?
An online payment platform collects money from your customers and settles it to your bank account. In India that covers two different products: cross-border collection accounts, which receive bank transfers from overseas clients, and payment gateways, which process cards and UPI at a checkout.
