Which routing code should my customer use for the selected transfer method?
Use the code supplied for the receiving account and the transfer method you agreed with the customer. Do not treat an ACH routing number, wire routing number, sort code, BSB or SWIFT/BIC as interchangeable.
First confirm whether the customer is sending a local transfer or an international SWIFT transfer. Then check the account instructions for that method. If separate ACH and wire instructions are provided, give the payer the relevant set without combining them.
If the payer's form rejects the code, do not remove digits or substitute a code from the internet. Ask the payer to confirm the transfer type, and send the exact error to Support if the correct instructions still do not work.
