Can my customer use wire-transfer instructions instead of local-transfer instructions?
Only use wire instructions if they are supplied for the receiving account and supported for the payer's route. The word “wire” can refer to a domestic wire or an international SWIFT transfer, so first ask which one the payer's bank intends to send.
Do not substitute the routing number from one method into another. If your account provides separate wire and ACH instructions, share the full set for the selected method. If the customer needs international SWIFT, use the appropriate International SWIFT account rather than assuming a local account can receive it.
If the payer has already sent the transfer, get the receipt showing the actual method. Ask Support to check the destination and route before another payment is attempted.
