Does PayPal have withdrawal fees

PayPal does have withdrawal fees, depending on how fast and by what method you withdraw. Standard transfers to a linked local bank account are usually free without currency conversion.

The fee depends mainly on the withdrawal method you choose:

  • Standard bank transfer: Moving money to a linked bank account in your local currency carries no fee, and it usually arrives within a day or two.
  • Instant bank transfer: Withdrawing instantly to an eligible bank account costs 1.75% of the amount, subject to minimum and maximum limits.
  • Instant debit card transfer: Sending funds instantly to an eligible debit card also costs 1.75% of the amount, with minimum and maximum limits applied.
  • Paper check: Where a mailed check is offered, PayPal charges a small fixed fee that varies by region and account type.

Other factors can add to the cost of taking money out of PayPal:

  • Currency conversion: When the PayPal balance is in a different currency from the receiving bank account, PayPal applies a percentage markup to convert it.
  • Country rules: The minimum and maximum caps on instant transfers, along with standard withdrawal terms, differ depending on the country where the PayPal account is registered.

Because PayPal pricing varies by region, the consumer fees page for your own country, such as the PayPal India, UK, US or Canada fee pages, gives the exact caps and rates. Choosing a standard transfer into a bank account held in the same currency as your balance generally avoids withdrawal charges altogether.
