No, Square Online does not accept PayPal, because Square has ended built-in PayPal payment support for stores created on Square Online.

Square shared the change with sellers through email updates and its Square Community forum, and small business owners discussing it online confirmed that the PayPal option was being removed from Square Online checkout.

Square Online still lets shoppers pay in several other ways:

  • Cards: Major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.
  • Digital wallets: Apple Pay and Google Pay can be offered at checkout.
  • Cash App Pay: Customers with Cash App can pay through it directly.
  • Afterpay: Buyers can use this buy now, pay later option to split the cost of a purchase.

If many of your customers expect to pay with PayPal, read a PayPal overview of its merchant options and check whether another e-commerce platform that supports it would suit your store better. If you are staying with Square Online, you can turn on the other digital wallets, such as Apple Pay or Cash App Pay, from your Square Dashboard.
