Does Wise work on weekends
Wise does work on weekends for some instant transfers, but standard bank transfers usually wait until the next working day because banks are closed.
In a Wise overview of delivery times, weekends and public holidays are one of the main reasons a transfer can take longer, since not every country's banking system runs on those days. Wise's Help Centre notes that most transfers are processed on working days only.
How Wise transfers behave over a weekend depends on the payment route:
- Instant transfers: When you pay with a fast method such as a debit or credit card, Wise can deliver certain transfers within seconds or minutes, including on Saturdays and Sundays.
- Bank transfers: Traditional bank-to-bank payments usually stop moving over the weekend because banks and clearing systems are closed.
- Money coming into a Wise account: Wise says incoming payments are usually processed on working days, Monday to Friday, so a payment sent on a Friday or over the weekend generally starts processing on the next business day.
- Public holidays: Public holidays can add delays in the same way weekends do.

- Check the date: Count only working days when estimating arrival, and allow extra time if a weekend or holiday falls in between.
