How much does Wise charge per transaction
Wise does not charge a single flat fee per transaction; the amount depends on the service you use, the currency corridor and the payment method.
Wise converts money at the mid-market exchange rate without adding a markup, so its charges appear as separate fees. The Wise pricing structure differs by transaction type:
- Sending or converting money: Each transfer has a fixed fee, usually about $0.30 to $4.50 or the local equivalent depending on how you fund it, such as bank debit or credit card. A variable fee is added as a percentage of the amount, typically starting around 0.19% to 0.45% for major currencies.
- Card spending in a held currency: Paying with the Wise debit card in a currency you already hold in the account costs nothing.
- Card spending in another currency: Wise converts the funds automatically, with conversion fees starting from about 0.19% to 0.33% depending on the currency.
- ATM withdrawals: Up to 2 withdrawals a month are free within a combined limit of $100 to $250, depending on where the card was issued. Past that limit, Wise charges $1.50 per withdrawal plus 2% of the amount above the limit.
- Receiving local payments: Incoming domestic transfers in major currencies such as USD by ACH, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD and SGD are free.
- Receiving wire or SWIFT payments: Wise applies a fixed fee per incoming payment of $6.11 for USD wire or SWIFT, €2.39 for EUR SWIFT and £2.16 for GBP SWIFT.
Wise offers fee discounts on transfers above 25,000 USD or the equivalent, and on transfers in most major currencies.
For exporters and freelancers in India receiving business payments through Wise, the all-in cost is often around 2% per transaction. That total combines a transfer fee of roughly 1.6% to 1.8%, 18% GST charged on that fee, and a flat $2 e-FIRC or FIRA fee per payment needed to clear international business funds.
