How to setup Stripe payments
To set up Stripe payments, sign up for a Stripe account, fill in your business profile, link a bank account for payouts and verify your identity before accepting live payments.
- Sign up: Visit the Stripe website, click Start now or Get started, and enter your email, name and a password.
- Verify your email: Confirm the email address you used to register the Stripe account.
- Add business details: Provide your business type, legal name, address and industry in the account profile.
- Link a bank account: Enter the bank account details where Stripe should send your payouts.
- Verify your identity: Submit a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, so the account can process live transactions.
After activation, Stripe offers several ways to collect money, and the right one depends on whether you need code.
- Payment Links: In the Dashboard, open Payments, then Payment Links, click + New, add a product or service with a price, and copy the URL to share. - Invoices: Go to Invoicing, choose a customer, add line items from your product catalog and email the bill directly.

Payment methods also need to be switched on before customers can use them.
- Open settings: Click the Settings gear icon in the Stripe Dashboard.
- Find payment methods: Under Product settings, select Payments and then the Payment methods tab.
- Turn them on: Click Turn on beside each local or global payment option you want customers to see. Depending on your integration, some methods may need extra steps before they work.
