How to use PayPal world

To use PayPal World, pay with the digital wallet or payment app you already use at home, since the network lets it work for cross-border purchases without installing a new app.

  • No separate app: There is no dedicated PayPal World app. You keep using your existing local wallet, such as a UPI app in India, Venmo in the US or Mercado Pago in Latin America.
  • Currency conversion: Your home currency is converted into the merchant's local currency automatically in the background.
  • One shared network: The platform links major payment systems from different countries, so routing and compliance checks are handled across a single network.

How you pay depends on whether you are shopping online or standing in a shop abroad.

  • Shopping on overseas websites: At checkout, pick the PayPal option and then select your home wallet. The exchange into the seller's currency is handled for you.
  • Paying in stores while travelling: If a shop uses a local payment network you do not have, scan its QR code with your home app through the integration.
