What does the export invoice generator create?
The export invoice generator creates an invoice for clients outside India, billed in your client's currency, and gives you a PDF. You fill four short steps and watch the invoice build in a live preview as you type.
The finished invoice carries four blocks:
- Bill from: Your business name, address and logo, with GST and LUT details if you have them.
- Bill to: Your client's name, address and country.
- Items: Each line with its SAC or HSN code, quantity or hours, rate and amount, in the currency you pick.
- Bank details: Account holder, account number, bank and branch, IFSC and SWIFT code, so your client can pay you.
For what an export invoice has to include and when to raise one, read our guide on what an export invoice must include.
How to create an export invoice in four steps
The export invoice generator splits the invoice into four steps: Bill from, Bill to, Items and Bank details. The progress bar at the top shows where you are.
Step 1: Bill from
Enter your business name, address and pin code, and upload your logo. If you're GST registered, add your GST details and LUT.
Step 2: Bill to
Enter your client's name and address, then pick their country from the list.
Step 3: Items
Pick the invoice currency. For each item, enter a name, an optional SAC code, the quantity and the rate. Use Add Item for more lines, then add a discount and turn on round off if you need it. The subtotal, total and total in words fill in as you go.
Step 4: Bank details
Enter the account holder name, account number, bank and branch name, IFSC code and SWIFT code.
Download your invoice
Check the live preview, then click Download Invoice to save it as a PDF. The first time, you'll be asked for your name and mobile number. On mobile, tap Save and continue after each step. The preview and download button sit below the form.
What details do you need before you start?
You need your business details, your client's address and country, what you're billing for and your bank account details. Each one has a job on the invoice.
| Detail | Why the invoice needs it |
|---|---|
| Business name, address, pin code | Identifies you as the supplier |
| GSTIN and LUT (if registered) | An LUT lets a registered exporter supply without paying IGST |
| Client name, address, country | Identifies the buyer and the destination country |
| Currency and rates | Sets what your client pays and in which currency |
| SAC or HSN codes | Classifies each line: SAC for services, HSN for goods |
| Account number, IFSC, SWIFT code | SWIFT routes your client's international transfer to your bank. IFSC identifies your branch in India |
Keep your LUT reference handy if you export services without paying IGST. You'll enter it in the first step.

Billing options you can switch on in the generator
The export invoice generator has an Invoice Details panel, opened from the pencil icon on the items table, plus discount and round-off controls below the items.
- Quantity or Hour: Bill by units, or switch to hours if you charge for time.
- Description: Show a description line under each item.
- SAC/HSN: Show or hide the code column.
- Currency: Change the invoice currency, and every amount follows.
- Discount: Take off a percentage or a fixed amount.
- Round off: Round the invoice total.
The preview updates as you change each setting, so you can see exactly what your client will receive.
If you need to quote a price before the work starts, send a proforma invoice instead.
Who uses an export invoice generator?
Anyone in India billing a client abroad can use the export invoice generator. Three groups use it most.
Freelancers and agencies billing overseas clients
Bill in USD, EUR or your client's currency, switch to hourly billing for time-based work, and add your SWIFT code so the payment reaches your bank.
GST-registered service exporters
Add your GSTIN and LUT in the Bill from step and put the SAC code on each line. Check the GST rules for export invoices in our GST bill format guide.
Small goods exporters
Switch the code column to HSN for goods. Shipping documents such as the shipping bill and packing list are prepared separately. Our guide to the commercial invoice for export covers what goods shipments need.
